Eastern Sierra Feed and the Carson Valley Times would like to congratulate our May/June Animal Trivia Contest Winners:
Christina Harper was drawn from all of the correct answers this month, and she can pick up her prize at the store.

The trivia question: Which Mammal shows similar traits to that of a human baby sucking their thumb?

The answer we were looking for was "Baby Elephant."

We found this great article written by mnn.com to help us with our trivia contest this month. Here is a portion of that article:

"The Internet was all abuzz recently with the image of a baby elephant that appeared to be sucking its trunk. We got curious is that what is really going on? So we decided to do a little research.
Turns out, the adorable answer is the correct answer. Elephants do, in fact, suck their trucks, just like baby humans suck their thumbs. And they do it for the same reason — comfort. Just like human newborns, elephant calves are born with a strong sucking reflex. This helps them instinctively know what to do when they are near their mothers breast."

Because we made the question too broad this month, we decided that all the people who chose animals such as Chimpanzee and monkey also answered the question correctly. We decided to give a prize for those who chose any
primate as their answer.

The one drawn from that group is Joe Johnson.

If you will stop by the store, we have gift certificate for you. Joe chose chimpanzee as his answer.

Don’t forget to keep playing our animal trivia contest online. The new question is online now: http://www.easternsierrafeed.com/trivia-contest.html

The Question for This Month: The Call of this large amphibian can be heard over a half a mile away?
